Description

Arugula
Eruca sativa

A spicy, tender mustard, good mixed with lettuces.

Culture: Prefers cool temperatures; direct seed as early as possible in spring. Bolts readily in heat. Considered a self-seeding annual.

Seed saving: A good seed for beginning seed savers as, this mustard doesn’t cross with other mustards in the Brassica family. Simply allow seed pods to dry on the stalk, then remove stalks before pods open on their own. Place cut pods into a bucket and lightly stomp. Use screens or a fan on low to remove seeds from chaff.
