Save the date for our 11th Annual Fest!
Saturday, October 7th, 2023
New Location: Boulder Town Park • Boulder, UT • 1 pm
Schedule:
Boulder! You have a lot of fun ahead. The 11th Annual Harvest Festival is just a few weeks away, and boy oh boy, there are so many fun activities planned. This free event is one of the last annual community gatherings for the year, so don’t miss it. Everyone welcome. Rain or shine!
*Note: The format is a bit different this year. We are only featuring ongoing events at the Harvest Fest and will be hosting more in-depth workshops throughout the year! (Our next workshop is a Tracking workshop from October 16-17th in Boulder…more details to follow…)
Ongoing Events:
Returning classics or just plain classic: beeswax candle dipping with Billie, cider making with Patrick, amazing face-painting by Amber, silkscreen printing with a cool Harvest Festival 2023 graphic by a local artist, apple bobbing, natural dyeing, old-fashioned ice-cream churning, silent auction and raffle, knot tying, traditional fire making, seed saving.
New ongoing events: community loom weaving project, scarecrow building, pumpkin hunt, spinning circle, natural plastering, photo booth, food forest tour.
Fundraiser Lunch:
Vegetarian or local lamb posole meat stew fundraiser lunch begins at 1 pm
Community potluck dinner: 5 pm
Please bring a generous dish to share with a card noting the title and ingredients or allergens and serving ware labeled with your name for an easy return. We have often had over 200 people at the potluck! As a general guideline, we encourage you to bring a dish per person attending to ensure that there will be enough food to go around. Items can be stored in coolers at the park if needed. If you need to warm up food, please provide a way to do so. Also, bring your own mugs, utensils, bowls, and plates.
Music:
• Live music with Jabe Beal gets things kicking at 1 pm
• Jessica Frogley and Richard Woodbury help serenade us into dinner
• DJ Jordan tunes for dancing following dinner.

During this three-day workshop students will learn to humanely slaughter and then skin, eviscerate, and butcher a locally raised sheep in a traditional way, using little more than one’s knife. We will identify the parts of the animal and learn how to process the muscles, sinew and tendons, intestines, and organs as well as share some ways to cook the edible parts. Students will have the opportunity to work on projects including bone tools, sinew and intestine cordage, hoof rattles, hide glue, and more. Examples of such items will be available. A dish will be prepared utilizing meat from the animal for the Skills Foundation Fundraiser Lunch at the Harvest Festival.
