Description

Genovese Basil
Ocimum Basilicum

This Italian variety has extremely tender, fragrant, extra-large, dark green leaves and is superb for pesto. Start early indoors or outside after all danger of frost.

Culture: Full Sun, direct sow and thin to produce desired size. Sensitive to frost.

Seed saving: Allow flower stalks to go to seed and dry on the plant. Then cut off stalks and place in a paper bag. To separate seed from the chaff crush pods with a rolling pin or lightly stomp on seed heads in a bucket. Use a screen or colander to winnow.

Keep different varieties of basil separated by 25 feet to avoid cross pollination.
